We present our SlimFlex 2.0mm Carbon Topdeck “TYPE 2” for the Yokomo MS1.0
Based on the proven design of our extremely popular BD12 top deck, our successor top deck improves the handling of your MS1.0!
We now have two topdeck options available, and since the front and back are the same length, we now sell them individually so you can mix and match the front and back types, and also purchase separately to cut tabs and try out different flex settings.
TYPE 1- This type is more commonly used at the front, but on cars like the Mugen MTC2R it is common to use this type at the front and rear. It expands the amount of material which increases flex across the entire topdeck, which is desirable on the shorter MS1.0 topdecks. Although we recommend starting with this type at the front, it can also be used at the rear to get more flex and more rotation if you suffer from understeer.
TYPE 2 - This type is more commonly used in the rear as it has less flex and a shorter amount of material. It also features the "squiggly" brace which reduces bulkhead flex, which is often desirable in the rear. In high traction situations this topdeck can also work very well in the front as it stiffens the caster and bulkhead flex, resulting in a more predictable and rounded car in the corners.
The top deck has 2 rotary screw positions for adding or removing flex (1 screw soft, 2 screws hard) which is a great way to adjust the overall amount of flex in the front or rear of the vehicle. The top decks also have "cuttable" tabs that allow the flex point to be moved forward or backward. Cutting the tabs will increase the flex of the vehicle at that point.
On asphalt or grippy carpet, you can cut one or both front tabs depending on how much steering you want (more cuts = more steering). However, too much flex could make the car hard to drive, so cut the tabs one at a time.
On medium/high traction carpet tracks or very high traction asphalt, it may be desirable to leave all lugs in place to stiffen the car and make it easier to drive on the high grip.
Our SlimFlex topdecks are precision CNC machined in Australia from high quality 3K carbon fibre and come with 1x precision machined topdeck bolts that can be used to mount the front and rear topdecks (1 each).
